She loves teaching math especially when she can bring it in from the things she does away from school so the students have something to think about and apply math in their lives |

Background Information:

Marlene's husband works as a mechanic for KDOT and has since 1982. They have lived in the same house since 1982 which is just up the road from where she grew up. Marlene has two daughters and two grandchildren. Their youngest grandchild lives very close and she loves having him around. They have seven dogs at the present time and most of them were "donated by others." Marlene has a very soft spot for animals and states she could cruise around the world on what it costs her to keep her animals healthy.
She attended Northern Hills Junior High and was a 9th grader when Logan opened and the junior highs were split.
As her students can tell you, she loves John Deere. Marlene worked there selling parts for many years and loves the farming community. She has pulled telephone wire on the KU campus and then was a Southwestern Bell operator for a few months. After that she worked for the telecommunication department for the state for a few years while she worked on her teaching degree. Marlene finally found a job she truly loves and has been at NHJH since.
